A blessing in that we were able to hook up with and collaborate with artists that we admired in England. However, Myspace does not respect trademark law. We have had the same band name for 17 years, we have 11 albums and DVDs. We are listed on all major music search engines. We also have a US Trademark to protect out name. However, it seems our name one that many people want, in spite of our history. For a time, when a group would use our name on Myspace or the internet, we
would go to the band and ask nicely that they change it. They would usually get nasty so we would have the page removed by the server. After awhile we learned to just remove the pages. However, this last time it happened, Myspace released my home address, phone number and other information to the creeps who were using our name, along with the infringment letter. We I came home that night there was a threating call on my machine from them. They sign my email up to tons of disgusting porn sites, Nazi web networks and published my address on the internet for people to harrass me. They also made a new Myspace the next day, encourgaging people to heap scorn on us.
They continued to threaten us with harrassing emails and such.
We are in the US, they the UK. (Myspace is governed by US law).
We finally made a truce with them and they stopped the garbage.
They have a new CD out. It is now lsited along with our discography, like it is a new album form us. They funny thing is it is listed as contemporty reggae (they are heavy metal!).
I am interested in your thoughts on this.

Perhaps we can hang a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner on our blog...and, then, not stop blogging.

It might seem Caplan is moving a little in your direction, given that post of his, but I don't know how far he can go without having to scale back on use of a lot of his favored tools and methods. He seems to be trying to isolate the problem...though he didn't say this directly, the effect of his post is basically to say "Okay, the Mueller thing makes it very hard to tell what public opinion is...on price controls." But we may be waiting a long time for him to ask: "Where in public opinion research is the Mueller thing ''not'' a huge problem?"
left by: Jason Briggeman

Just Declare Victory: The Mueller Effect

Eli,
I agree with you in part. But I am really trying to get at the question of "does democracy give voters what they want?" I am attempting to demonstrate that "what they want" (at some deep level) is not entirely clear, and in the process to suggest that politicians have a significant degree of slack in choosing policy (which "Classical" Public Choice would agree with, but not Wittman and Caplan).

Also, the CNN poll basically asked the question the way you suggested:

"Which would worry you more -- if gas prices rose significantly but you could buy gas whenever you wanted to without waiting in long lines, or if gas prices remained steady but you had to wait in long lines to buy gas or could only buy it on certain days?"

Long lines were a bigger worry for a slim majority.
left by: Jeremy Horpedahl
