A bold claim (or hope)

The next great, noble, liberal cultural crusade will be (okay, should be) to render it socially unacceptable to apply the term "public" to any particular institution or group within society.  As a result, it will come to be generally understood that to identify anyone or anything as "the public" -- particularly when the entity in question is one with which the speaker is personally aligned -- is an act of graceless propagandism.
